Specifically, I mean creating an embossed image from a B&W photo of someones face, then “Stamping” a coin from it to be exported as full 3D geometry just by using the create 3D from Alpha and a Multi Marker tool. I’m sure there’s an easy way hidden in the features of Z. Now, I know I can just draw a medal in ZBrush, then use the Alpha image of whatever and create a raised effect on the metal by using ZAdd, RGB off, but that would not be exportable geometry, just rendered pixols. They have a circular shape, with raised areas that depict whatever, the rings I guess. I was experimenting with this type of function, because I was thinking of a way to make an “embossed” 3d object. So, when creating a 3d object from an alpha, in this case a b&w photo, pure black will be rendered as “absent material” in the created mesh. I made sure to check that the transparent button was not pressed under the texture palette. Now reposition your 3D object and paint in other areas of the image you’d like to transfer, or load other images to generate your texture.This image shows that the black areas of the 3D alpha are transparent or “empty”. When everything is lined up properly, I’ll left-click and drag over the parts of my image I’d like to appear on the cube.įeel free to adjust the radius and strength properties at the top. I’d like my Master Chief head to be on the front of the cube, so I’ll press 1 on the NumPad to line it up orthographically, then change the size by holding CTRL and middle-mouse-click-dragging. The 3D object underneath the stencil moves as it usually would, so feel free to move it into position. I’m sure there’s a way to reset the rotation too, but I haven’t figured out how to do that yet. You can move the stencil by right-clicking and dragging, or rotate it by pressing CTRL.
